CreateAThon®
For 24 hours straight our creative juices flow and the coffee continues to brew as we create numerous projects for the selected non-profit organizations. Everything from brochures and websites to radio spots and press releases, you name it, we do it and we have a blast!
Every year, in an effort to give area non-profit organizations the professional and creative marketing materials that would otherwise be financially unfeasible, we invite all non-profit organizations in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe and Lehigh counties to submit a CreateAThon® application. Then we sit down and painstakingly review each application and select a variety of organizations to work for during the 24 hours of CreateAThon®.

Candy's Place
Candy’s Place does so much for so many. They offer services and support to Cancer patients in and out of treatment, cancer survivors, caregivers and families of cancer patients. Awareness of this powerful little organization was top priority for them. People in the community might have heard of Candy’s Place, but no one seemed to really know what they were all about.
After learning all about the wonderful and supportive programs offered, we really wanted to express what a wonderful, safe haven Candy’s Place is for those surviving cancer and their families. We decided that an updated logo and a fully functioning marketing plan would best serve their current needs.
We started to brainstorm for ideas on how to update the fairly popular logo. We decided on something very similar, but just cleaner and simpler. We didn’t change the identity of Candy’s Place, we just made it a little clearer. We then expanded on the identity of Candy’s Place to develop a complete and thorough marketing/advertising plan that they would easily be able to implement immediately in order to gain awareness of their mission and help them to raise much needed funding.

Dress For Success
Maintaining and operating a full-functioning professional clothing, shoe and accessory shop for underprivileged women based on the donations of those in the surrounding community can be a daunting task. But this is the case for Dress for Success Lackawanna. Dress for Success Lackawanna provides women with professional business attire in order to go on interviews for different job opportunities. Once a woman has secured a position, Dress for Success Lackawanna will allow them to return to the shop and choose a week’s worth of work appropriate attire. In order to promote the economic development of disadvantaged women by providing them with professional attire, Dress for Success Lackawanna is almost entirely reliant on the generous contributions of others.
They were looking for new, updated brochures to send to referral agencies, to use at fundraising events and to promote who Dress for Success Lackawanna is and what they really do for women in need.
We received some much needed help on this project from our friend Jim at Corcoran Printing. He wanted to incorporate a more diverse look to the brochure in order to attract the audience Dress for Success Lackawanna is attempting to reach. After we edited and updated the copy to be included, Jim used his excellent graphic design skills to develop a fresh, modern look for Dress for Success Lackawanna’s new brochure. And thanks to Corcoran printing, Dress for Success Lackawanna received their first 1,000 brochures printing at no cost!!

Family Answers
Family Answers is your basic one-stop shop for just about anything a family might be in need of. Located in a beautifully restored historic home in downtown Allentown, Family Answers offers counseling services for all generations including, homemaker health aide services, a volunteer companionship program, telephone support services, a family loan assistance program, a child abuse prevention program, plus much more.
Their goal is to provide affordable, high quality prevention, education and therapeutic services that nurture emotionally healthy individual and family life within and around the Allentown community. They really needed our help in making them stand out among the rest – Family Answers is a wonderful location that offers fantastic programs in an intimate atmosphere for children, adults and families. Our job was to help get the word out there!
Each branch of the Family Answers community is different and distinct from one another. Even though they are almost all located in the same building, each service wanted a way to differentiate themselves and promote their own specific benefits and advantages.
We discovered that to promote their services and programs, each branch attends various health fairs, career workshops. And of course, they all bring a plethora of information with them, some of which, in particular the display boards, were outdated and pretty simplistic.
So, we chose to develop new tri-fold, portable, tabletop display boards for five individual programs that needed to be promoted at the events Family Answers attends. Karen really took the lead on this project, designing layout and writing copy for each programs’ tri-fold. In the end, each program had a unique, individualized display that represented what they each offer as well as still ensuring that they were a part of the Family Answers family.

Forty Fort Meeting House
A local cause that’s close to our hearts was one of the main reasons we decided to work with the Forty Fort Meeting House Preservation Committee. The dedication of this group is so remarkable, that it made us want be a part of the Meeting House’s rich tradition and history.
The Forty Fort Meeting basically needed an updated brochure to highlight the building’s history and tradition as well as be used for fundraising needs. They were looking for a brochure they could use at meet and greets, hand out to people they meet or send out in the mail. Since the meeting house just celebrated its bicentennial with some major renovations, we wanted to emphasize the importance of keeping this part of local history alive and in tact.
Due to the overabundance of important historical information the brochure needed to include, Doug decided to revamp the layout of the brochure. He wanted to keep the ‘church bulletin’ look of the brochure since that was important to the committee, yet still update the overall design. He took the basic design and enhanced it by allowing it to open up to a larger size to more efficiently organize the important copy and historic photography without having to lose any information.

GAIT (Genuine Alternative in Therapy)
It's no secret that we all here at cds creative, inc. are huge animal lovers. So the second we read over GAIT’s application, we were sold and there was no doubt in our mind that this extraordinary organization would be part of this year’s Createathon.
GAIT offers an alternative approach to therapy. They are a therapeutic horseback riding center providing assistance to children and adults with various developmental disabilities. GAIT offers many programs providing different forms of therapy to meet the many needs of our clients.
When we first spoke with Martha, GAIT’s founder, and her staff they had so much to say and so many stories to share with us. The staff of GAIT’s dedication for this cause is remarkable. Their passion quickly became ours.
GAIT essentially wanted a cleaner, more professional logo and a more professional and organized website. Their website is the most effective way they can inform people about who they are, what they do and how they do it. So we began the dubious task of sorting through the overabundance of information provided on their current site in order to organized it better and make it more concise. We decided to completely rebuild GAIT’s website in order to help them get their mission and passion across to those who would visit it.
The entire site was redesigned, copy was edited, color schemes were changed and photos were added. The end result was a professional, attractive and informational site that helps to express the magnitude of the amazing and life-changing work GAIT offers to those in need. Their logo was also redesigned in order to look more professional and a business card was created for Martha’s use.

National Student Partnership
The National Student Partnership is an organization based in Philadelphia that is the nation’s only year-round student-led volunteer service organization that links people in need of support with resourceful college students who are willing to assist with the otherwise daunting task of navigating the complex social service system and help find opportunities that lead to long-term self reliance.
They were looking to increase both the number and the diversity of majors of the student volunteers at their local office. Their main challenges were overall awareness of the programs/opportunities and recruitment and retention of volunteers.
We opted to create an eye-catching poster, an internet banner ad and an informative emailer design. These pieces all had a consistent, attention grabbing look to them, representing who NSP is and what NSP can offer student volunteers. The emailer and banner ad also serve as reminders for those already participating and former volunteers of the program. There is no doubt that all of these attractive marketing pieces will help NSP stand out in the crowd.
