We’ve been working with Luzerne County forever. Little jobs here and there whenever they might need some help. So when they came to us looking to –redo– their website, we were thrilled. Like most government websites, Luzerne County’s was full of information that was very difficult to find.
Our first idea was to the break down all information into easy to access sections. We proposed that the average person would only need to click two or three times before they found what they were looking for on the site. This required a revamping of the navigation throughout the site along with a careful analysis of exactly where certain information should be located.
We also redesigned the format of the site in order to make it more uniform and more pleasing to the eye. Each department has the ability to create their own identity while still looking like they are a part of the County site.
We emphasized that the website was a place to learn about Luzerne County. Whether people visited the site to find out where the courthouse is located, about the history of the County or how to get a hunting license, the site needed to be inviting and accessible.
